FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DECEMBER 13, 2016

MURFREESBORO, TN – (TJRS) Justin Reed, host of The Justin Reed Show, has been named as a finalist (top 5 in the nation) for the 2017 Golden Mic Awards from the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System; the award is in the “Best Celebrity Interview” category. Reed has previously received the same award in 2015 and a Golden Mic for “Best Live Music” in 2014 and 2015. The Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) serves to aid both high school and college radio stations with legislation and award students for superior broadcasting. The winning entry, “Dolly Parton Interview,” can be heard here: www.thejustinreedshow.com/dolly. Each finalist will receive an actual golden mic trophy at the awards show held in New York City March 4, 2017.

“This news is amazing, I am extremely humbled. Sitting next to Dolly in itself was enough of a reward and to be ‘top five in the nation’ for interviewing her is simply icing on the cake,” said Reed upon learning about the results. The full results are posted online. “This interview almost didn’t happen! It was at a ‘media day’ about her latest Christmas movie and there was a circle of [disc] jocks and reporters and we each asked one question. Right before my turn, the event organizers told Dolly that is was time to leave. She said, ‘He hasn’t asked his question yet!” and she pointed to me. Talk about being put on the spot! She stopped the whole event so I could interview her; I will always love Dolly Parton!”

The Justin Reed Show is Murfreesboro’s Home for Country Music and airs live each Thursday morning from 7 to 10 A.M. on 88.3 FM WMTS on the MTSU Campus and online worldwide at www.thejustinreedshow.com. The Warm Up Show starts at 6 A.M. Hosted by the award-winning Justin Reed, each week features the best in classic country and bluegrass music in addition to interviews with the up-and-coming stars to the legends; previous guests include: Dolly Parton, Bill Anderson, Cyndi Lauper, Jim Ed Brown, Jeannie Seely, Rhonda Vincent, Ralph Emery, T. Graham Brown, Leona Williams, Erin McLendon, and 201 others across more than 160 weekly episodes. TJRS is one of the longest running shows on WMTS and no two shows are the same!
