The Man Behind the Mic
Born in Murfreesboro and raised in Woodbury, TN, Justin D. Reed has always loved making people laugh and have a great time! A double alumni of Middle Tennessee State University [2014 Bachelor - Media Management; 2017 Master - Communication], Reed has been in radio since February 2012 and loves every minute of it! During his time at MTSU, he hosted one of the most successful shows on the college station WMTS (and the namesake for this website) The Justin Reed Show that ran for 234 episodes, featured 371 guests, and won 8 awards (see below).
Reed now hosts the WOW Morning Wake Up Crew weekdays at 105.3 WOW Country in McMinnville and area favorite show Town Talk on 97.7 WBMC Radio! Additionally, he has worked both on-air and off-air at 650 AM WSM, 89.5 FM WMOT Roots Radio, 88.3 FM WMTS, Star 107 WTRZ, and 92.1 The Ticket. A complete listing can be found on the Radio page. His voice has also been heard doing area news throughout the Upper Cumberland area.

In addition to radio work, Reed served at the Master of Ceremonies at the Dewdrop Jamboree in Murfreesboro, TN - a position he filled from 2016-2019. He is pictured at right telling one of his favorite jokes ("Chief Bell Ringer" - ask him about it) on stage at the 2018 Uncle Dave Macon Days during a special edition of the Dewdrop Jamboree. He has also hosted bluegrass festivals, including the 35th, 36th, 37th, 38th, 39th, and 40th Annual Rolley Hole Marble Championship in Hilham, TN, and has brought the legendary Country Music Hall of Fame members Sons of the Pioneers onstage in full concert. He frequently can be seen bringing talent onstage at the historic Park Theater in McMinnville.
Reed made his national TV debut in Las Vegas, NV, as a part of a series about the Dewdrop Jamboree. Other video work now features Song Stories with Justin Reed on Facebook and Justin Reed's Wheels on the Bus Tour & Justin Reed's Wheels on the Bus Tour - Rising Stars on Amazon. Justin is currently filming A Slice of Bluegrass with Viola's Pizza Company, Viola, TN, that airs locally in over 15,000 homes over 11 counties in Middle Tenn. A Slice of Bluegrass celebrated the 200th episode in December 2023. |
Finally, when not on the air, Reed serves as the pulpit minister at the Arlington Church of Christ in McMinnville, TN, and he speaks at various Gospel Meetings and Vacation Bible Schools each year. He delivered his 1,000th sermon in December 2022. Reed hosts a weekly radio program Reading the Word that airs every Friday at 10:00am on 97.7 WBMC; this program has been heard additionally on 1540 AM WBRY and 102.5 FM WSOJ. He holds a degree in Preaching and Biblical Studies from the Middle Tennessee School of Preaching and Biblical Studies (graduated April 2018). Since 2005, he has been making balloon animals at events all over Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana as Justin Reed the Balloon Dude.
When asked what his favorite job is, Reed always answers the same: "I am blessed beyond measure to get to do so many things that I love to do! They are all my favorite for different reasons!" Reed is married to the love of his life, Sara, and they reside with Holly the Shorkiepoo in the Nursery Capital of the World. |
